John Rose (1738-1804) was of Antigua, West Indies. His son, Joseph Warner Rose (1773-1826) was general commercial agent for the United States at Antigua and the adjacent islands and owned a sugarcane plantation near St. John. He later moved his family to Worcester, Mass., which had been the home of his wife, Harriet Paine Rose (1779-1860), daughter of Dr. William Paine (1750-1833).
